Editorial & Accuracy Policy
Rules we hold ourselves to when publishing anything on this site — and a public record of what changed, when.
How content is produced
Every page on CodeClassify is grounded in a public standard or an official dataset. Guides are written against the primary sources (GS1 specifications, ISO structure rules, U.S. federal regulations and datasets — see data sources) and worked examples are computed with the same validators you can run yourself. Reference pages for NAICS, SIC and HS codes are generated from official government files and reproduce the official definitions verbatim, clearly labelled as such.
We do not publish AI-guessed classifications, unverified third-party data, or content written to rank rather than to answer. Where a tool has a genuine limitation — a checksum that cannot prove registration, a rule that only applies regionally — the limitation is stated on the page, not hidden. The full list of what each validator can and cannot tell you is on the methodology page.
Corrections
If you find an error — a wrong validation result, an outdated dataset entry, a mistake in a guide — email [email protected]. We re-derive the disputed result from the official standard or source before changing anything. Confirmed errors are fixed promptly and material fixes are recorded in the changelog below.
Advertising & affiliate disclosure
We intend to support the free tools with advertising through Google AdSense. AdSense is integrated site-wide (our ads.txt and the AdSense loader are already in place), but the account is still under review, so no ads are being served yet. When advertising goes live, visitors in the EEA and UK will first be shown Google's certified consent message (Google "Privacy & messaging") before any advertising or measurement cookies are used, and that consent can be changed at any time. Whatever ads appear, advertisers will have no influence over tool results, page content, or which codes and datasets we cover — ads are kept clearly distinguishable from content and results are computed by the deterministic algorithms described in our methodology, full stop. Some pages may contain affiliate links, always governed by our affiliate disclosure. The site also earns from its pay-per-use developer API; the free tools never require it.
Independence
CodeClassify is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by GS1, Amazon, the U.S. Census Bureau, the SBA, the USITC, the European Union, ISO, or any other standards body or marketplace named on this site. Their names appear only to identify the standards, datasets and error messages being discussed.
